Product Details

A round conical apple with skin that is flushed and striped. It is medium-sized with a savoury taste. Flesh is melting and juicy yet crisp, with strong acidity. A Scottish apple propagated in Edinburgh during the late 19th century by James Grieve.

James Grieve is a mid-season variety. When picked it is pleasantly acidic and refreshing and if it is too sharp for your taste it can be used for cooking (cut it into small chunks, it keeps its shape when cooked). After a few weeks the flavour sweetens and becomes quite mild, and it is then an excellent apple to eat with slices with cheese.

This is the perfect pollinator for the back yard orchard.

James Grieve is an excellent pollinator for many other apple varieties.
